Best Futures Prop Firms (2026): Ranked & Compared

The futures prop firms we rate highest in 2026 — ranked on reputation, payout reliability, pricing and rules. Every firm here trades CME products (ES, NQ, GC, CL) and, unlike forex/CFD firms, is open to US retail traders.

The short answer

The best futures prop firms in 2026 are Topstep, Apex Trader Funding, My Funded Futures, Lucid Trading and Take Profit Trader. Topstep and Apex lead on track record and payout reliability, while Lucid Trading is the standout value pick among newer firms. All trade CME products like the ES, NQ, GC and CL, and — crucially — all are open to US retail traders. Accounts stay simulated until you are funded and paid.

How we ranked these firms

For futures firms we weigh payout reliability and reputation first, then pricing and value, profit split, drawdown structure (trailing vs end-of-day) and platform choice. Because a prop firm is only as good as its payouts, a documented track record and a strong review base count heavily.

Topstep and Apex Trader Funding lead for their long track records and consistent payouts. My Funded Futures earns its place for flexible one-step and static-drawdown accounts, Lucid Trading as a fast-rising value pick, Take Profit Trader for its live-funded payout model, Tradeify for lifetime-fee and instant-funding options, Alpha Futures for a strong newer reputation, and Elite Trader Funding for its wide range of account models.

Futures prop firms trade CME products — and accept US traders

Every firm on this list trades CME futures: the E-mini S&P 500 (ES), Nasdaq-100 (NQ), gold (GC), crude oil (CL) and their micro contracts. These are exchange-listed, centrally cleared products — a very different regulatory footing from the CFDs offered by forex prop firms.

That difference is why futures prop firms are open to US retail traders, while forex/CFD firms exclude them. If you are based in the US, a futures firm is effectively your only route into prop trading. Outside the US these firms are widely available too, though eligibility still varies by country, so confirm you can be funded before paying.

Lucid Trading — the value pick to watch

Lucid Trading is a newer CME futures firm (launched early 2025) that has climbed our list fast. It offers both LucidTest (a standard evaluation) and LucidDirect (instant funding, no evaluation), uses a forgiving end-of-day drawdown rather than an intraday trailing one, and lets traders keep 100% of the first $10,000 in profit before moving to a 90/10 split.

It supports the platforms serious futures traders use — Rithmic, Tradovate, NinjaTrader and Quantower — and has built a reputation for fast payouts. We rank it as a strong up-and-comer rather than above Topstep or Apex on pure track record, but on value it is one of the most compelling options in the futures space right now.

What to check before you buy

Confirm the drawdown structure — trailing (Apex) vs static vs end-of-day (Lucid Trading), which behaves very differently intraday — plus the profit split, the payout threshold, frequency and speed, and any consistency or minimum-day rules that gate your first withdrawal. Check the platform (Rithmic, Tradovate, NinjaTrader, Quantower) supports how you trade.

Never pay sticker price — futures firms discount constantly, especially Apex — and weigh reputation above a marginally lower fee. Match the account to your style: an end-of-day drawdown suits traders who hold through intraday swings, while a static drawdown is simplest to manage. A cheap challenge at a firm that delays payouts is poor value next to a proven firm that pays cleanly.

Honest caveats and risk

Several firms here are relatively young, so the longest track records (Topstep, Apex) are a genuine advantage over newer entrants like Lucid Trading, Tradeify and Alpha Futures. We have not tested every firm’s payouts ourselves and report reputation as the public record, not as proof.

Risk note: evaluation and funded prop-firm accounts are simulated until you are funded and paid, trading futures carries a high risk of loss and leverage magnifies it, and rules and pricing change often. This is educational content, not financial advice. Start small, confirm a payout works before scaling, and never treat fees as guaranteed income.

Frequently asked questions

01What is the best futures prop firm in 2026?
Topstep and Apex Trader Funding are our top picks for their long track records and reliable payouts, both trading CME futures and open to US traders. My Funded Futures and Take Profit Trader are strong alternatives, and Lucid Trading is the standout value pick among newer firms. The best fit depends on your drawdown preference, budget and trading style.
02What products do futures prop firms let you trade?
Futures prop firms trade CME-listed products: the E-mini S&P 500 (ES), Nasdaq-100 (NQ), gold (GC) and crude oil (CL), plus their micro contracts and other index, metal, energy and agricultural futures. These are exchange-listed and centrally cleared, unlike the CFDs offered by forex prop firms.
03Can US traders use futures prop firms?
Yes. Unlike forex/CFD prop firms, futures prop firms are open to US retail traders because CME futures are exchange-listed products. Every firm on this list — Topstep, Apex, My Funded Futures, Lucid Trading and the rest — accepts US-based traders, which makes futures the main prop-trading route available in the US.
04What is an end-of-day drawdown and why does it matter?
An end-of-day drawdown, used by Lucid Trading, only updates your trailing loss limit based on your balance at the market close, not on intraday peaks. That gives traders more room to hold through intraday swings than an intraday trailing drawdown, which can breach mid-trade. It is generally more forgiving for active futures traders.
05Are futures prop firm accounts real money?
No. Evaluation and funded futures accounts are simulated until you qualify for and receive a payout. You earn real money from simulated profits by following the firm’s rules. Futures trading carries a high risk of loss and leverage magnifies it, so treat evaluation fees as risk capital, never guaranteed income.
