How GOAT Funded Trader works
GOAT Funded Trader (GFT) is a forex/CFD prop firm founded in 2022. You buy a challenge — or an instant-funded account — trade within the rules, then trade a simulated funded account and request payouts. Accounts run from $5K to $400K across cTrader, MT5, MatchTrader, TradeLocker and Volumetrica.
Its calling cards are price and choice: over ten account models (1/2/3-step, Instant, Blitz), a $1 simulator, a Pay Later option and frequent discounts make it one of the cheaper ways into a funded account. The base split is 80%, upgradable to 100% via a checkout add-on, and a scaling plan lifts it toward 95% as you level up.
The honest part: reputation and payouts
This is where balance matters. GFT says it has paid out more than $11M to a large trader base, and many traders are paid. But its Trustpilot score sits around 2.6/5 across thousands of reviews, with recurring complaints about payout denials, copy-trading accusations and support. We have not tested payouts ourselves, so we report this as what traders publicly state — not as proof either way.
The practical takeaway: the rules are where accounts are won or lost here. Consistency and copy-trading rules have caught traders out, and “Goat Guard” auto-closes funded trades at a 2% floating loss. The first Reward-on-Demand payout is also paid at just a 40% split. None of this means GFT does not pay — it pays many — but it means you must read the current rulebook line by line and never risk money you cannot afford to lose.
Drawdown and rules by model
Drawdown depends on the model: 1-Step uses roughly 4% daily / 6% max, 2-Step GOAT around 4% daily / 10% max, 3-Step about 4% daily / 8% max, and Instant GOAT a 3% trailing daily / 6% trailing max. Trailing drawdown on the Instant accounts is less forgiving than the static limits on some rivals.
GFT allows a fairly flexible trading style, but the consistency and minimum-day requirements before payout are strict and are the most common reason eligible traders are delayed. Confirm the exact figures in your dashboard before you trade — GFT iterates on these rules regularly.
Who GOAT Funded Trader is for
GFT suits experienced forex/CFD traders who want the cheapest possible entry, lots of model choice and multiple platforms, and who are willing to read and follow the rules meticulously to get paid. The $1 simulator is a genuinely low-risk way to test the platform first.
It is a weaker fit if you want a spotless payout reputation and minimal rule friction — established firms with higher trust scores may suit you better, even at a higher price. Risk note: accounts are simulated, payouts depend on the firm’s rules and solvency, CFDs are not available to US retail clients, and no prop firm fee is guaranteed income.
